What is Coast to Coast?

Coast to Coast is a six-week activity challenge that allows you to journey to some of America’s most popular attractions as you record health behaviors.

Registration dates: August 9 – September 6

Program dates: 6-weeks; August 30 – October 10

How does it work?

Each day you’ll visit a new attraction, earning points and road signs as you record physical activity plus sleep and acts of kindness. And you’ll answer a fun trivia question, learn why each attraction should be on your places-to-see list, and collect bumper stickers to commemorate your visit.

What is the program goal? 

In this six-week wellness adventure, your goal is to collect 150 points by recording physical activity, 7-9 hours of sleep, and acts of kindness. You will earn an exercise points by recording at least 6000 steps a day. Sleep points are earned by logging when you have slept 7-9 hours in a night.  Kindness points are earned when you perform an act of kindness in a day.

What health practices count toward the goal?

Exercise: Earn points for recording at least 6000 steps. Log steps manually or connect an activity tracker on your Settings page. Use the Step Converter to record activities not accurately measured with a tracking device, such as swimming, cycling, rowing, etc.

Sleep: Adults typically need 7-9 hours of sleep to avoid accumulating sleep debt. Quality sleep not only helps you feel revived when you wake, but also can improve memory and recall, regulate appetite and the release of certain hormones, and protect/repair muscles as well as your immune system. Check the box if you had 7-9 hours of sleep.

Kindness: Kindness has been shown to benefit emotional well-being and improve overall happiness by increasing self-esteem, empathy, and compassion. Research has found that performing random acts of kindness can also increase longevity and boost heart health.  Check the box for at least 1 act of kindness.

How do you win the Coast to Coast competition?

Top association wins overall champion trophy. Association needs 100 or more participants to qualify for the overall trophy. Participating associations – WIFLE, BIG, FEW, and YGL.

Top team in each association win a trophy. Teams must have four or five participants to be eligible for this trophy. Ties will be determined by the team with the highest averaged steps.

Top 3 individuals from each association win a trophy. Ties will be determined by total steps.

All participants who complete will receive a certificate.
